03/31/2008. Originally built as a Lightning F.Mk.3, this aircraft was first flown on March 17, 1965 by BAC test pilot Desmond ‘Dizzy’ De Villiers from Samlesbury, Preston. Subsequently it was converted to a Lightning F.Mk.6, and delivered to the RAF in September 1967. It flew with Squadrons No. 23 and 56, the Lightning Training Flight, Squadrons 5 and 11, before it was purchased by the Lightning Preservation Group. It was flown to Bruntingthorpe on June 24, 1988. |
