North American NA-243 F-100F Super Sabre

09/15/2020. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Built under the USAF serial 56-4019, this F-100F still wore the USAF code FW-019 on the fuselage sides when the aircraft was handed over to the RDanAF on May 22, 1959, when it was handed over to 727 Squadron it wore the Danish serial GT-019 on the sides. The aircraft served with three other squadrons before it was withdrawn from use after 4,855 flying hours, and transferred to Söllingen AB in Germany, on January 25, 1982. The next day it was transferred to Aviano AB in Italy, subsequently it was delivered to the THK (Türk Havva Kuvvetleri, Turkish Air Force). Within two weeks, February 11, 1982, the aircraft was lost in a midair collision with F-100D, serialed 54-2270, 6 mls (10 km) south of Ergani, Diyarbakir, Turkey. All pilots ejected safely.

In the photo above, the aircraft is pictured shortly after arrival, moments later it was pushed back by the aircraft tug into its position for the RNethAF "Open Day" display the following day.

While the F-100F made a ca. 225 mls (362 km) trip Skrydstrup, Denmark to Twenthe AFB, the F-4E in the background made a hop of only 69 mls (111 km) from Soesterberg AFB, the Netherlands. The F-4E was built under the USAF serial 69-7558 and delivered to the 32nd "Wolfhounds" Tactical Fighter Squadron at Soesterberg in 1971. In the early 1980s it was converted to an F-4G, some fifteen years later it was withdrawn from use. On March 26, 1996 it arrived at AMARC, and coded FP1003 it was stored for twelve years. It left the AMARC on June 6, 2018, and was scrapped at Tucson, Arizona."
