10/31/2011. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The Whirlwind entered service with No. 263 Squadron in June 1940, and with No. 137 Squadron in September 1941. Eleven of these aircraft were presentation aircraft, paid for by private subscription or collection. The pictured aircraft was one of three aircraft donated by Samuel Howard Ellis of Cambridge, New Zealand, it was named "Comrades in Arms" and served with No. 137 Squadron. The other two aircraft were a Hawker Hurricane, s/n V7776 named "Spirit of the RFC", and a Hawker Typhoon Mk.IA, s/n R8200 named "Islands Of Britain"."
