03/31/2012. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "One of a batch of 989 aircraft, ordered from Supermarine at Bromwich as F.Mk.Vs on January 1, 1942. These 989 aircraft, in the serial range JG713 to JL395, were delivered in 133 days between December 10, 1942 and April 21, 1943. JG871 was operated in the Mediterranean theatre and participated in operation Torch over Tunis and Algiers.

Coded L-E the aircraft is pictured while with No. 152 Squadron RAF, shortly after the unit re-equipped with the type at Souk-el-Khemis (Paddington), Tunisia. Note the dust filter over inlet under nose. On May 18, 1945 the aircraft was transferred to the Yugoslav Air Force with s/n 9491. It crashed October 6, 1947 and was struck off charge."
