03/31/2012. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The second flying boat designed by Aleksandr Yustoosovich Villish was ordered by the Russian Navy, alike the VM-1. The aircraft was built by Meltser Fancy Furniture factory (also builder of propellers), and fitted with an 100 hp Gnome Monosaupape engine it was first flown in the fall of 1916. After use by the Russian Navy the VM-2 was transferred to a flying school at Baku (presently in Azerbaijan) at the Caspian Sea."
