Johan Visschedijk: "With the adoption of the Schneider Drehring (ring) gun mounting and the Parabellum machine gun in the spring of 1915 came the new C-class of armed two-seater, capable of defending itself from attack from the rear. The AEG C.I (company designation KZ 9) of 1915 was a strengthened B.II bomber with an 150 hp Benz Bz.III motor. The observer occupied the rear cockpit, equipped with a 0.312 in (7.92 mm) machine gun on a ring-mounting, the rearward-sloping center sectionstruts being moved forward to accommodate it."
