09/15/2006. Remarks by Bernhard Klein: "Short-range coastal reconnaissance aircraft with a crew of 4 or 5. Powered by a 680 hp twelve-cylinder M-17b liquid cooled engine (derived from BMW V1). Design started in May 1931 and construction of prototype in Moscow, in 1932. First flight was made over the Black Sea from Sevastopol, Krym, Ukraine, in October 1932. 1500 military variants were produced (plus an unknown number of civil models) with first deliveries in spring 1934, service lasted till early sixties." |
