02/28/2007. Remarks by Bernhard Klein: "Bomber transport built to Spec. C.26/31 the sole prototype made its first flight on June 4, 1935. On January 20, 1938 this plane was used by Flight Refuelling Ltd. to inflight refuel Imperial Airways' Short S.23 Empire Flying boat 'Cambria' (G-ADUV) over Southampton Water. In April 1939 it was transferred to Flight Refuelling and subsequently registered as G-AFRX. It was destroyed in a German air raid on Ford Aerodrome, Sussex, on August 18, 1940." |
