02/28/2007. Remarks by Bernhard Klein: "First flown November 23, 1938, it was not until November 18, 1941 the 24 passenger D.342 was registered to Air France. The unusual agreement between Nazi Germany and 'Vichy' France, prevented further develpment of the D.342, but allowed the Air France to use the aircraft on their route to Algeria. The aircraft was destroyed when it crashed on September 27. 1942 at Ameur el Ain, Algeria; all 25 aboard were killed."
