07/07/2007. Remarks by Bernhard Klein: "Photo shows the 'dustbin' bottom gunner in the down position. There indeed was a gunner in the barrel, albeit safer than a ball turret gunner in a B-17. The guy in the Junkers 'Dustbin' could jump quickly whereas the ball turret gunners of B-17s had to do a lot before they could bail out when the plane went down. Early Junkers Ju 86 had such a 'dustbin' also. These aircraft, wearing the 1935-1938 colour scheme, belonged to Kampfgeschwader 152, Luftkreiskommando 2, Berlin. Code 27+E11 indicates: 2 = Berlin 7 = 7 Geschwader in Luftkreiskommando E = individual aircraft 1 = I Gruppe 1 = 1 Staffel."
