04/30/2008. Glosters' only four-engined aircraft was designed by H.P. Folland to meet specification C.16/28 of 1928, that called for an aircraft capable of carrying 30 full-armed troops, or their equivalent in cargo or bombs, for a distance of 1,200 mls (1,931 km) nonstop. First flight was made at Hucclecote by Howard Saint on February 23, 1932. Because of unsatisfactory handling and performance, the aircraft was not taken into production. |
