04/30/2008. Glosters' only four-engined aircraft was designed by H.P. Folland to meet specification C.16/28 of 1928, that called for an aircraft capable of carrying 30 full-armed troops, or their equivalent in cargo or bombs, for a distance of 1,200 mls (1,931 km) non-stop. First flight was made at Hucclecote by Howard Saint on February 23, 1932. Because of unsatisfactory handling and performance, the aircraft was not taken into production. |
