Embraer EMB-202A Ipanema

10/31/2009. On October 19, 2004, the EMB-202A Ipanema powered by an ethanol fuelled 320 HP Lycoming IO-540 engine was certified. Homegrown in Brazil, the sugar-based álcool etílico or etanol (ethyl alcohol or ethanol) is a much cheaper fuel, has a lower CO2 output and no lead content, produces a 7% horsepower increase, and according Embraer, the EMB-202A delivers a 38% reduction in direct operating costs. At least forty "100% Álcool" fuelled EMB-202As have been produced and an additional 150 have been converted.
