Tecnam P2006T MMA

01/31/2011. Remarks by Loet Kuipers: "Marketed as a VLA (Very Light Aircraft), the Italian Tecnam P2006T is a four-seat twin-engined high-wing utility aircraft that offers low operating costs, simplicity of systems and worldwide maintainability while offering a good payload and impressive endurance. Powered by two 98 hp Rotax 912S four-cylinder engines, which are much smaller and lighter than the current Lycoming engines, the operating costs of this twin-engined aircraft are comparable with 200 hp four-seat single-engined aircraft.

Wiener Neustadt, Austria-based Airborne Technologies developed an ultra-low-cost surveillance system for observation, law enforcement, mapping and sensing missions, and a such equipped P2006T has been designated the Technam MMA (Multi-Mission Aircraft). In September 2010 one aircraft was sold to the Russian operator ChelAvia and will be used on a diverse range of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions including police, border patrol, drug enforcement and urban surveillance."
