04/15/2018. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Under the STC SA4-1362 of January 3, 1961, the Weatherly Aviation Company Inc. of Hollister, California, formed by John C. Weatherly, produced nineteen Model WM-62Cs till the autumn of 1965. These were single-seat agricultural conversions of surplus Fairchild M-62 two-seat trainers and most were powered by a 225 hp Continental W-670 radial engine, although a few were delivered with 450 hp Pratt & Whitney R-985 radial engines.
The pictured aircraft was built in 1942 as an M-62A and under the designation PT-19A-FA (serialed 42-33599) it was delivered to the USAAF. After conversion by Weatherly it is seen above fitted with a venture spreader and a small spray boom, while this June 1964 photo shows the aircraft fitted with a span wide spraying system.
On March 5, 1973, while spraying crops with liquid chemicals in the Avenal, California area, the aircraft engine had a flame-out due to fuel mismanagement. In the following forced landing off airport the pilot received slight injuries, the aircraft was substantial damaged."
