Curtiss CW-20B C-46A Commando

08/31/2006. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft was delivered to the US Army Air Forces on February 21, 1943 as a C-46A-1-CU, s/n 41-5201, and assigned to the North Atlantic Wing of the Air Transport Command on May 1, 1943. On March 26, 1946, the aircraft was declared surplus, transferred to the RFC and stored at Ontario, California.

The aircraft was sold to Mexico's Aerovias Contreras SA on November 21, 1947 and registered XA-GOT. On August 18, 1953, this C-46 crashed into a hill east of San Diego, California, killing the two crewmen aboard. The wreckage was sold to Allied Aircraft Co. of North Hollywood, California, as scrap."
