03/15/2020. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Originally this was an NA-88 AT-6D built under the USAAF serial 42-85298, that was transferred to the USN as an SNJ-5C under the BuNo. 84998. When it was retired from service it was stored at NAS Litchfield Park, some 20 mls (32 km) west of Phoenix, Arizona, and subsequently sold as surplus.
The unusual single-seat crop duster conversion was created in 1963 by Robert C. Stroop of Selma, Alabama, by using wings of another SNJ-5. Subsequently it was sold to J.F. Carter, a crop duster operator of Monroeville. The aircraft was deregistered in 1970.
In the 1990s a restoration to SNJ-5 configuration was started and on September 8, 2006, it was registered as N545VE to Daniel A. Yates of St. Louis, Missouri, and still is as of this day.
