04/30/2008. Produced in 1944 this aircraft was assigned to the 37th squadron of the 316th Troop Carrier Group in October 1944. It also flew ‘candy flights’ during the Berlin Blockade, June 24 1948 to May 11, 1949. It was converted to a VC-47B; reportedly the wreck of the aircraft was spotted at the Gaines Creek mine strip, Alaska. |
