02/28/2011. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This Douglas Model DC-3A-467 was ordered as a C-47B-45-DK and delivered to the USAAF in July 30, 1945. It was leased to the US airline TWA (Transcontinental and Western Air) from August 9, 1945 to February 8, 1946. The superchargers were removed from the engines and it was redesignated C-47D on August 29, 1946.
The aircraft was modified as an SC-47D for the Air Rescue Service (ARS), a subcommand of the Military Air Transport Service (MATS) and remained in the US at a number of bases. In 1962 the aircraft was redesignated HC-47D, it was struck off charge on April 14, 1964."
