06/27/2003. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Grumman designed the G-164 in the 1950s and it first flew on January 20, 1959. Grumman sold this and other programs to American Jet Industries in 1978. The new company was named Gulfstream American Corporation, but in early 1981 the program was sold to Schweizer who was a sub-contractor for many years. The G-164A numbered 1325 aircraft (c/n 401 to 1725), N48489 was manufactured in 1976."
