Vickers 610 Viking 1B

01/22/2007. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This Viking made its first flight on April 9, 1947 registered G-AHPL and was delivered to British European Airways (BEA) five days later named 'Verdant', it was renamed 'Lord Anson' in 1951. It was sold to Eagle Aviation on April 10, 1953 and 18 days later, it was sold to the Southern Rhodesian airline Central African Airways registered VP-YKK and named 'Lundi'.

In 1958, it returned to England having been sold to Pegasus Airlines on December 22nd as G-AHPL. It was leased to Autair (Luton) (later Autair International Airways) between March 1963 and February 1965 when it was sold to Invicta Airways on February 12, 1965. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair while taking off at Manston Airport, Kent, England on August 2, 1965. It was withdrawn from use, stored at Manston and subsequently scrapped."
