This aircraft was built for the USAF as a G-64 SA-16A-GR, s/n 51-0068, for use in the SAR role. After 1956 it was upgraded to G-111 SA-16B when it received a new wing, while it was retrofitted to a G-251 SHU-16B and transferred to the Norwegian AF in 1962. In March 1969 it was transferred to the Greek AF and became one the 12 ex-Norwegian SHU-16Bs that were operated by the new 353 Maritime Patrol Squadron when it was established at Elefsis AFB in August 1969. It was withdrawn from use in November 1990 and is stored at Elefsis AFB. |
