TEAM 1300Z Z-Max

02/08/2026. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "TEAM (Tennessee Engineering And Manufacturing) Inc. of Bradyville, Tennessee, USA, introduced the 1300Z Z-Max in the early 1990s. The type was a single-seat microlight of conventional wooden construction covered with fabric, the fuselage was covered with double fabric. The mid-wing was braced to the landing gear, the tail plane to the fin. The enclosed cockpit had a swing-over canopy. Power plant was the Japanese 45 hp Zenoah G50 twin-cylinder, horizontally opposed, two stroke, carbureted aircraft engine.

TEAM sold plans, complete kits, or mini-kits. The latter were major subassemblies such as the wing rib kit, wing assembly, and fuselage kit, to name a few. When one was completed, another mini-kit could be purchased and completed, until the aircraft was finished. It's not clear how many 1300Z Z-Maxs were completed, at the moment of writing at least three examples were still active in the USA.

On June 28, 2007, the aircraft pictured above was substantially damaged in a forced landing due to power loss. After landing in a cropped paddock near Kaikoura, New Sealand, the aircraft turned over, the pilot escaped injury. The fate of the aircraft is unknown.
