Built in 1979 this aircraft is still on the Australian register, although stated as being built by American Champion Aircraft.

Bellanca ended production in April 1980 and was liquidated in 1981. Assets were acquired by B&B Aviation forming Champion Aircraft Co., this company being sold in December 1989. New owner was Jerry Mehlhaf who formed American Champion Aircraft Corp. early 1990.
