01/22/2007. Remarks by Ian McDonell: "Initially known as 'Project C', this manned version of the Jindivik drone flew for the first time from Woomera airfield, South Australia in October 1950. The two built aircraft were the only Australian designed and built manned jet aircraft to date, logging 100 flying hours until retirement in June 1954. The second aircraft has been preserved and became part of the RAAF Museum collection in the late 1970s." |
