Two world distance records for amphibians were set by this aircraft. The first was a nonstop flight of 1,033 mls (1,662 km) on December 12, 1935. The second was on June 29, 1936 when the aircraft flew nonstop from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Langley Field, Hampton, Virginia, USA, a distance of 1,430 mls (2,301 km). The pilot on the second flight was Major General Frank M. Andrews, Commanding General, General Headquarters Air Force (GHQAF).
