03/31/2008. Remarks by Jack McKillop: This YB-52-BO rolled off the assembly line on March 15, 1952 and made its first flight one month later on April 15. This aircraft was used for test and development work for several years until transferred to the AF Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. This aircraft was scrapped in the mid-1960s a victim of President Johnson's wife Lady Bird Johnson's national beautification program, which sought to remove eyesores such as surplus military hardware from the landscape." |
