03/31/2008. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This was the third XPW-8 ordered and it was held at the factory until a newly designed wing could be installed. It was delivered to McCook Field, Dayton, Ohio on September 4, 1924, assigned the Project Number P-364 and made its first flight on October 4th. Subsequently, the aircraft was sent back to the factory to have tapered wings inspired by the Fokker D-XI installed. It was then redesignated XPW-8B." |
