Oscar W. Nichols and friend Herman Pheneger formed Phenick Flying Service in the 1930s with a Ford Tri-Motor and a New Standard D-25A operating out of Port Columbus, Ohio. James Nichols' father, Oscar W. Nichols, pictured in 1932 next to Phenick Flying Service sound car from which music was played and rides were advertised. From the car the tickets for rides in the Ford and the New Standard were sold. Oscar W. Nichols, in the cockpit of the New Standard, and James Nichols discuss the day's operation.
