06/30/2024. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "R3373 was the 55th of 200 Anson Mk.Is in the seventh RAF production batch ordered in 1939 from A.V. Roe & Co. Ltd., Newton Heath, Manchester, England to contract B12565/39. Delivered between February and July 1940, 132 of the 200 aircraft were allotted to the EATS (Empire Air Training Scheme) and distributed among the Australian, Canadian and South African air forces.
Shipped disassembled to Canada, R3373 was assembled by the Ottawa Car & Aircraft Corporation. It was taken on charge by the RCAF on April 9, 1940, and subsequently assigned to No. 1 Training Command under the new serial 6028. After 949 flying hours the aircraft was overhauled and converted to an Anson Mk.III between October 9, 1941 and January 24, 1942, and assigned to No. 5 Service Flying Training School at Brantford, Ontario.
On July 8, 1943, the aircraft was severely damaged when the pupil Leading Aircraftman J.A. Vaillancourt taxied with low brake pressure. Aircraft got out of control and collided with a hangar door. The aircraft was transferred to No. 6 Repair Depot at Trenton, Ontario on July 29, a month later, August 26, 1943, it was struck off charge and reduced to spares and produce."
