Republic AP-10 XP-47E Thunderbolt

12/22/2006. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft was ordered as the last P-47B-RE but was completed with a pressurized cockpit and designated XP-47E-RE. The aircraft was painted chrome yellow and made its initial flight in September 1942 at Republic Field, Farmingdale, Long Island, New York, but successful tests with the pressurization system were not achieved until July 1943. The aircraft was subsequently repainted in standard camouflage paint and flown to Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio, and used for various tests."
