08/15/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The La-5 light single-seat all-wood fighter powered by ASh-82 radial engine was a development of the LaGG-3. The pictured aircraft, which is a replica, is wearing the markings from the aircraft flown by Captain Georgy Dmitrievich Kostylev with the 3rd GvIAP of the Baltic Fleet in 1943. Ranking 24th at the Soviet WW II aces list, Captain Kostylev flew 418 missions gaining 43 victories and 3 assists in the 112 contacts with the Luftwaffe."
