Agusta F.260D

02/28/2018. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The pictured type was a further development by SIAI Marchetti of their well-known SF.260-series. Introduced in 1985 as the SF.260D it was an improved and updated civil version with aerodynamic and structural improvements developed for the military SF.260M. It received an Italian type certificate in December 1985 and an FAA type certificate was issued in October 1986.

SIAI Marchetti had become a subsidiary of Agusta by 1983 and lost its identity in 1989, hence the pictured aircraft, built in 1990, came on the US civil registry as an Agusta F.260D. On May 18, 1990, it was registered as N401FD to Fox Five One Ltd., owned by Frank Stricler of Denton, Texas, who was the sole importer of the SF.260 and used N401FD as a demonstrator for some time. By April 13, 2003, it was reregistered as N330DG to Deborah "Debbie" Gary of Friendswood, Texas, and she showed it in air shows for a few years. Presently the aircraft is registered in Wilmington, Delaware.

In January 1997 the former SIAI Marchetti company was sold to Aermacchi."
