Basically similar to the USN SBD-5 Dauntless, this was one of the 615 A-24B-DTs built for the USAAF. Ordered by Contract AC-28716 of November 12, 1942, it was delivered in 1943 with s/n 42-54532. In 1947 it came on the civil register as NL94513, served with the Mexican AF and between 1960 and 1963 was registered as XB-QUC. Thereafter it was sold to the Tallmantz Collection, Orange County, California USA and than to the Air Museum, Ontario, California. In 1970 it was registered as N54532 to Robert L. Griffin, San Antonio, Texas and restored. In 1978 it was donated to the Confederate Air Force, Harlingen Texas, painted as a US Navy SBD-3. |
