Remarks by Peter Rye: "Photo shows the aircraft landing, bringing the Japanese representatives from Field Marshal Count Terauchi's Southern Army headquarters in Saigon to receive surrender instructions for Burma, Malaya, Singapore and Thailand. The representatives were Lieutenant General Takazo Numata (Chief of Staff to Terauchi), Rear Admiral Kaigye Chudo, and other Japanese officers. The aircraft wears markings decreed by the Allies: All Japanese operated aircraft should be painted white, and marked with green crosses on fuselage and wings."
