"The DC-8-43 was intended for intercontinental operations and was powered by four 17,500 lb (7,938 kg) st Rolls-Royce Conway R.Co. 12 bypass engines. Fuel capacity was 23,400 gal (88,579 liters) and the maximum take off weight was 315,000 lbs (142,882 kg).
The 153rd DC-8 built, this aircraft was delivered to Alitalia of Rome, Italy on November 3, 1961, registered I-DIWP and named 'Alvise Ca' da Mosto'. It was sold to the aircraft broker F.B. Ayer & Associates who sold it to ARCA Colombia (Aerovias Colombianas) of Villavicencio, Colombia on October 18, 1976, registered HK-1854. By 1997, it had been withdrawn from use and was used for spare parts until it was derelict at Eldorado International Airport, Bogata (as HK-1854X on one side). It was subsequently scrapped."
