The USAAF ordered a batch of 182 O-49A aircraft (s/ns 41-18900 to 41-19081). Under the MAP 96 aircraft were reallocated to the RAF as Vigilant Mk.I, with the s/ns BZ100-BZ195 being allocated. However 41 aircraft (BZ155-BZ195) were cancelled, the remaining 55 aircraft were the ex-USAAF 41-18943 to 41-18997. In the end BZ109 and BZ111-BZ154 were not delivered to the RAF, including BZ128 (ex 41-18971). They remained in USAAF service, later redesignated to L-1A.
