Curtiss 43 F7C-1 Seahawk

11/30/2006. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This was the personal aircraft of Captain James T. Moore, Commanding Officer A.S.E.C.E.F. (Air Service, East Coast Expeditionary Force), at Quantico.

Powered by a 450 hp Pratt & Whitney R-1340B this single-seat fighter was designed especially for carrier operations, but could also be fitted with a single float. The prototype XFC-1 (A-7653) was first flown on February 28, 1927 and was followed by a production order for seventeen aircraft (A-7654 to A-7670), the first being delivered in November 1928.

The Marine Corps Squadron VF-5M at Quantico received five F7C-1s in January 1929 and the aircraft served till 1933. One aircraft (A-7667) is preserved at the National Museum of Naval Aviation, Pensacola, Forida."
