Dan Shumaker finishes what he starts, no matter how long it takes. He soloed in 1963 in a Piper PA-12 that has been in his family since 1950. And Dan is in the process of restoring this same aircraft now. It is not hard to foresee that when he finishes, N2666M will be in the Shumaker family for another fifty years. Dan's father worked as an aircraft mechanic since before WW II, and Dan obtained his A&P certification in 1982. Between the two of them they have owned, flown, maintained and restored a number of aircraft: A Cessna Airmaster, a Funk, a Taylorcraft, a Mooney Mite, two Fairchild 24s, a Maule M5-235C and a Beechcraft Staggerwing. The Staggerwing is awaiting restoration after the Piper PA-12 is finished. As anyone this involved in aviation would do, Dan has taken a lot of photographs of aircraft, many of which appear here. You'll also find some of his photos on the Aerofiles. Visit Dan's personal aviation web site: Dan's Hangar. |
