03/31/2009. Derived from the two-seat B.E.2c, the single-seat two-bay winged B.E.12 inherited the predecessors highly developed stability, by which it lacked the required maneuverability. Soon the type was relegated to bomber operations. To improve maneuverability, the type was redesigned to have single-bay wings and was redesignated B.E.12a.
