No. 8730. Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.12a (A6303) Royal Flying Corps
03/31/2009. Derived from the two-seat B.E.2c, the single-seat two-bay winged B.E.12 inherited the predecessors highly developed stability, by which it lacked the required maneuverability. Soon the type was relegated to bomber operations. To improve maneuverability, the type was redesigned to have single-bay wings and was redesignated B.E.12a. However, the modifications did not improve maneuverability, and the type served only in small numbers. The pictured example was produced by The Daimler Co. Ltd. of Coventry, UK.
