01/31/2011. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The tandem two-seat Aero-3, designed by Engineer Dorde Petković, was one of the most important basic trainers used in Yugoslavia after WW II. Developed from the Ikarus Aero-2, it was of all-wooden construction with fabric covered rudder and elevators. Power plant was an 185 hp Lycoming O-435-A engine. UTVA produced 110 examples for the JRV (Jugoslovensko ratno Vazduhoplovstvo, Yugoslav AF). Serialed 40101 to 40210 (c/n 001 to 110), these were operated from 1956 to 1964, whereafter they were handed over to flying clubs."
