09/30/2014. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Designed by Dipl.-Ing. Klaus Holighaus, the Standard Class version of the Schempp-Hirth Cirrus entered production during the summer of 1969, following the first flight of the prototype in March 1969. By April 1977 a total of 700 Standard Cirrus had been built, including 200 under license by Grob Flugzeugbau of Germany, between 1972 and July 1975. Production by Schempp-Hirth ended in April 1977.
Subsequently manufacture was continued, under license from Schempp-Hirth, by the French company Lanaverre at Cachan, by January 1, 1978, thirty had been completed. In 1979 the Yugoslav company Jastreb at Vrsac started license production of the Standard Cirrus, by 1991 the type was still in production."
