09/15/2020. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This aircraft was built in 1969 by the Swiss Louis Cosanday, who was one of the pioneers of amateur construction in Switzerland. Based on the Mignet HM.19 tail-dragger plans of 1937, he made a number of modifications, including the vertical tail and wing struts. Initially fitted with a 45 hp Salmon seven-cylinder radial engine, by 1972 this had been replaced by a 65 hp Continental, and then by an 100 hp version. Subsequently the landing gear was fitted with a nose wheel.
In 1978 the HM.19C was sold to another Swiss, Arthur Mörike, who gave the Pou-du-ciel (literally Sky louse, commonly named Flying Flea) the appearance of a bee and it attracted a lot of attention at many air events in Europe. In 1989 Mörike had to make an emergency landing with the Pou-du-ciel on a beach in Morocco, which severely damage the landing gear. The aircraft was repaired in Morocco and transferred back to Switzerland, where the aircraft was stored.
In 1992 the aircraft was sold to the historic aircraft collector Josef Koch of Erolzheim in Germany, who had it registered in the UK as G-BWRI from April 12, 1996 to July 16, 1998. In 2009, forty years after it had first flown, a complete overhaul was started, besides a modified landing gear, the aircraft was given a new livery and was registered as D-EPOU. Till last July it had been attached to the Fliegendes Museum (Flying Museum) at Großenhain, near Dresden, Germany.
