12/22/2006. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft was ordered by the US Air Force for NATO as an E-3A, USAF s/n 79-0457, and was purchased by NATO through the US Foreign Military Sales organization and delivered on December 19, 1984. This is one of NATO's E-3As based at Geilenkirchen AFB, Germany but registered as civil aircraft in Luxembourg to meet legal requirements. The aircraft is assigned to NATO's Airborne Early Warning Force and crewed by personnel from all NATO member countries."

12/31/2024. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The E-3A LX-N90457 was damaged beyond repair at Aktion Airport, Preveza, Greece, on July 14, 1996. Intending to make a flight to homebase Geilenkirchen NATO Air Base, Germany, the pilot-in-command heard a loud noise during the takeoff roll. Assuming the aircraft suffered a bird strike, the pilot aborted the takeoff roll, although the V1 speed had been passed. The airplane could not be brought to a stop on time and it overran the runway. Hitting a sea wall caused the fuselage to break, luckily the sixteen occupants escaped injuries. In the aftermath it was concluded there had been no bird ingestion."
