04/15/2021. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Designed by Lieutenant Colonel Pedro Huarte-Mendicoa Larraga at the INTA (Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeronáutica), the H.M.2, derived from the H.M.1, was intended as two-seat trainer and sport aircraft. Of mixed construction and powered by a 150 hp Hirth H.M.506 six-cylinder air-cooled inverted in-line engine, it featured a sideward opening canopy and a raised rear upper decking. It was the first Spanish-designed aircraft to have a retractable landing gear. The prototype was built by Industrial Aeronáutica SA, which first flew in 1945. Under the military designation L.19 and serialed L.19-1, the H.M.2 had a brief operational career with the Spanish AF.
Production aircraft would having a lower rear fuselage decking, a sliding canopy and the indigenous 150 hp Elizalde Tigre G-IV B four-cylinder air-cooled inverted in-line engine. By 1950, the prototype had been modified with these features, and registered EC-AHS on July 21, 1950, it was transferred to the Real Aero Club de España. No further examples were built as the AISA I-11 was selected by the Director General for Civil Aviation for use in Spain's aero Clubs, as well as by the Spanish AF."
