11/30/2011. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "After WW II ended aviation clubs in Finland boomed and more primary gliders were needed. The Harakka I (Magpie) also needed development and the Finnish aviation authorities ordered the Finnish Institute of Technology (Polyteknikkojen Ilmailukerho) to redesign the type.

Involved in the redesign were Raimo Häkkinen, J. Nurmi and Juhani Heinonen (the latter also designed the HK-1), and the single-seat primary glider was designated PIK-7 Harakka II. Reportedly construction of 28 aircraft was started, although a number were not finished. The pictured H-56 was built by Tampere Aviation Association in 1952 and it was in use till 1964.

A single PIK-7 Harakka III, a further development that was named Muna (Egg), was also built."
