Built by Hawker Siddeley as Harrier Mk.50, it received the
US designation AV-8A Harrier
and served with the USMC. McDonnell Douglas rebuilt it as the first of two
prototypes YAV-8B, flown in this form for the first time on November 9, 1978.
Later it was transferred to the NASA registered as N704NA
. It is now part of the
Aviation Challenge Museum collection at Huntsville, Alabama, USA.
