This experimental was used to investigate the Aerofoil-principle, based on research by Dr. A.M. Lippisch. The Aerofoil-principle consists of a special configuration of wing, wich gives exceptionally hight lift ratios when flown in a ground effect condition. The X-113 Am flew for the first time from Lake Constance, Germany, in October 1970; it was withdrawn from use in 1976. |
