Caudron C.600 Aiglon

05/15/2020. Remarks by Hugues de Rivals: "This photo was completely unknown to our family till recently! The pictured aircraft was owned and flown by my grandmother Geneviève Le Pelley du Manoir, nicknamed "Zizi". She, and my grandfather, Guillaume de Rivals, can be seen near the engine of the aircraft. F-ANSH was destroyed in the bombing of Villacoublay airfield during WW II. "Zizi" and Guillaume had two sons, François (my father) and Bertrand. "Zizi" passed away in 1940 at the age of 27.

My grandfather was a military pilot, who fought during WW II, flying a number of aircraft, including the Dewoitine D.520, Bell P-39 Airacobra, Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, and the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. He started to lead the Escadrille Lafayette at Bône-Les Salines Airport (presently Rabah Bitat Airport) near Annaba, Algeria, in February 1944. The escadrille was dedicated to costal command operations, in general protecting allies convoys against German air attacks, initially flying Warhawks, from April 1944 Thunderbolts. Later the Escadrille was transferred to Corsica. By 1954 Guillaume had been promoted to General, he passed away in 2001, at the age of 91.

I am looking for photos, press articles, films, etc. of the 1937 edition of "The Circuit of the Oases" in Egypt. Please contact me in case you can help me out."
