10/31/2007. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This was the second of two of these heavy transport helicopters built for the USAF. The first, Piasecki Model PV-15 XH-16 Transporter, s/n 50-1269 was powered by two 1,650 hp Pratt & Whitney R-2180-11 radials and flew for the first time on October 23, 1953. The pictured second helicopter was powered by two 1,800 shp Allison YT-38-A-10 turboshafts and flew for the first time in December 1955.
The YH-16A established an unofficial world record achieving 166 mls (267 kmh) a few days before it crashed on January 5, 1956."
