Waco HPF-7

06/30/2011. Remarks by Andy Heins: "The airplane is a standard 1940 Waco UPF-7 that was originally modified around the 1948-52 time frame to have an original-style raised turtle deck and sliding rear canopy found on the 1936-37 Waco YPF/ZPF.

This was also the first Waco UPF-7 to be modified to accept a 300 hp Lycoming engine and was known as the Stolp-Adams conversion. This made the airplane officially a Waco HPF-7, my father's Waco was the second (done in 1959). The front cockpit cover, held on with Dzus fasteners, is standard on a UPF-7 but rarely used.

This airplane remained in this configuration until sometime in the mid-1980s, as in a later photo, it appears to have the sliding canopy removed but it was added back sometime around 1990. It was sold to France, registered F-AZJC on July 31, 1991, suffered a landing accident and was rebuilt and is flown frequently."
